Robert Emmanuel Pirès (born October 29, 1973 in Reims, France) is a French international football player, of Portuguese and Spanish descent. He plays for Villarreal CF as a midfielder. He normally plays on the left side but can play all across midfield or even as a support striker.He is 1.85 m in height and he used to play for Arsenal before joining Villareal FC in summer 2006.His honours are:
* Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year – 2001/2002
* Légion d’Honneur, France’s highest decoration 1998
* FIFA Confederation Cup Golden Ball award, best player of the tournament – 2003
